Garden Party Centerpiece
Garden Party Centerpiece
Full Sun Project
Project time: 30 minutes
Celebrate Spring with a garden party! Invite your friends and family to an outdoor celebration and dress your table with this beautiful flowering centerpiece.
Step 1: Choose a wire basket.
Step 2: Line the inside of the basket with green sheet moss.
Step 3: Place a small plastic bag on top of the moss. This will help hold the soil in place.
Step 4: Fill the basket with soil ¾ of the way full.
Step 5: Use a straight pin to poke several holes in the bottom and sides of the basket to provide drainage.
Step 6: Trim the plastic bag even with the top of the basket.
Step 7: Choose a mix of spring flowers and foliage. Select thriller, filler, and spiller plants. In this basket we've used Dahlias and Persian Shield as our Thriller plants (these are tall upright plants). Dusty Miller and snapdragons are our filler plants (the plants that fill in the middle of the container). Bacopa and petunias are the spiller plants (the plants that trail over the side of the basket).
Step 8: Fill in around all the plants with potting soil and Dr. Earth Root Zone fertilizer
Step 9: Tuck moss around them to finish off the basket.
Step 10: Water well.
