Pet Friendly Houseplants
Houseplants add beauty and help improve air quality inside the home. If you have pets you know they sometimes like to chew on plants. There are some plants that are not safe for your furry friends to ingest, so instead, choose houseplants that are non-toxic so you can breathe easier knowing Fluffy and Fido are safe.
These lists refer to plants that are toxic or non-toxic when ingested. Just like humans, dogs and cats can also have allergic reactions to plants or may get an upset stomach for things that are not meant to be consumed. Consult your veterinarian if your pet has allergies.
You'll want to avoid certain houseplants and choose ones that are non-toxic and safe for your furry friends. Want to know about a specific plant? Check the ASPCA's list of toxic and non-toxic plants. If your pet has ingested a toxic plant, contact the National Animal Poison Control Center: 1-888-426-4435
