Armstrong Growers is an Employee-owned, wholesale bedding
plant grower located in Southern California; it is a division of Armstrong
Garden Centers, Inc. We operate five
growing facilities in San Marcos, Santa Paula, Oxnard, Fallbrook, and Bermuda
Dunes, CA serving Independent Garden Centers throughout California, Arizona,
New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, and Texas.
Armstrong Growers is looking to fill the Foliage Buyer position for our Houseplant Brokerage Department located in San Marcos, CA. This facility grows and brokers our Houseplant/Foliage programs. We hire exceptional people who love what they do. We believe in building relationships, solving problems, and delivering outstanding service throughout all levels of our business.
What good looks like in this position
As a buyer/broker, this position is multi-faceted so you must be well organized, have some sales experience as well as build solid business relationships in order to negotiate the best programs and prices.
- Horticulture experience - Preferred
- Purchasing / Production experience - Preferred
- Salesforce experience - Preferred

Key Job Functions

Oversee foliage ordering and purchasing department
Follow decorating / gardening trends and be able to make adjustments to product assortment
Generate report data and present to Management
Product / Program Development
Oversee product receiving, process orders for sale, and insuring it moves quickly
Experience with negotiating for cost
Collaboration with internal teams
Relationship building with vendor partners
Prospect for potential vendor partners
Understand the purchasing process and buying in volume
Compensation
Hourly rate: will commensurate with experience

Physical Environment/Working Conditions
Can requires extensive use of back, legs, knees, arms, feet and hands for lifting, stooping, squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching overhead, and walking. Unassisted lifting limits up to 50 lbs. Individuals may be required to do any or all of these situations throughout the work day, with an emphasis on walking and standing for a major portion of the day.
